On a scale of 1-10, the white chocolate macadamia nut brownies are a resounding 10! (Eric and Luc)

The Twins March 4th, 2010 at 7:10 pm

From Luc re: Raspberry Chocolate:
This is so good! This is amazing!

From Eric re: Mocha Chocolate:
Awesome, amazing! If your ratings went up to 100, I would give you a 100!

From Daniel re: Raspberry Chocolate:
This is absolutely unique. I’ve never had anything like this before. It’s great! It’s a very nice combination.

And from Meg:
Thank you, Laurelyn, for letting us be your testers. You can’t imagine how happy you have made the whole family.

Ah! Lucky lucky us! We have dubbed ourselves your ButterGirl Brownie Fans!

Topping my list is a duel between your Chocolate Mocha and Double Chocolate Walnut Brownies. Tasting them, the Mocha inches ahead, as I’m just a mocha lovin’ gal. The mocha is subtle but definitely there – a lovely, refined, perhaps “adult” flavor. If I were buying them from a list, I’d be torn between them, as the chocolate/nut combo is always a winner. The Double Chocolate Walnut feels like a solid, sure thing, one you know you’ll enjoy…and I did.

Chocolate Raspberry – I’m not generally a chocolate raspberry fan, but I enjoyed this much more than I expected. It reminded me of the European chocolate raspberry cakes of my childhood. Sweet, soft, rich, playful – yum!

The White Chocolate Macademia Nut brownie…tasty, but as a chocolate fan, it has to work harder than the rest for me. Solution – I must need to eat more of them to savor the flavors even more! Perfect solution! Thanks ever so, LL.

So here is my story:
I brought the dream quad home (the four test brownies)… placed them on my counter and stared at them for a couple of days.. see I try to limit my sugar intake. Then.. it was time.. I though.. ok I’ll try one of these tonight….so I open the bag and decide to have one of the brownies. Well.. I ate one (Double Chocolate Mocha)… then I thought hey these are small enough I’ll have a second one (chocolate walnut)… then couldn’t stop because they were so good so went for it and had a third one (chocolate raspberry).. I stopped myself after the third brownie.. and saved the fourth one of the dream quad till the next day (Macadamia Nut Chocolate).
Just put this on record.. it is my prediction that ButterGirl Bakery just may become famous for their brownies instead of their cookies.. don’t get me wrong the cookies are fantastic.. but the brownies are indescribably delicious.
I would change nothing except for maybe a little more raspberry flavor in the chocolate raspberry….
If these are the test brownies, I can’t wait to taste the final product.. so when will these be available????

The Twins on Almond Crescent Samples
” Dear Butter Girl,
The almond crescents are SO GOOD! My Mom said they were “so good,” and I said, “No, they’re not good,… they’re FANTASTIC!” From 1 to 10 in rating, I would give it a 9 1/2 because I don’t like almonds. Thank you really for all the cookies you gave us. I’m eating some right now.
ERIC

Dear Laurelyn,
The almond crescents are really good, but they taste a little doughy. They’re really good, but they make you really thirsty. They’re a 9 out of a scale of 1 to 10. Thank you for giving us the cookies – I hope you can have another open house because it was fun.
Luc

Dear ButterGirl,

Thank you so much for your Father’s Day cookies! They were so special… and so good! I will send you a photo of the arrangement my sons made with them. Very cool! I never had a Father’s Day like this!

Sarah July 22nd, 2010 at 1:01 pm

yum. picked up some of your brown sugar shortbread and spice cookies a couple of weeks ago at the Medford Market. I’m hooked! And I want to try more! Where else can I buy/pick them up locally?

Michele July 30th, 2010 at 3:50 pm

Your chocolate chips are the best I’ve ever had!!! I hid them, so I wouldn’t have to share with anyone!!!
Like Sarah, I want more and would love to know where to purchase….many thanks!

Hi Michele,
Thank you so much for your comment! When I really love something, my husband knows that I won’t share either. :)
You can buy my cookies and brownies at the markets, usually at Medford, on my website, or just send me an email. I can deliver locally the same day they are baked. I am in the final steps of obtaining a wholesale license so I hope to have ButterGirl products in some local venues soon.
I will keep you posted. I tweet my market locations every week. I hope to see you soon.

Hi Laurelyn,
We just had our peanut butter fudge brownies and our collective feedback is WOW! FANTASTIC! Here’s our individual feedback (and please take into consideration the “out of mouths of babes” factor)
Thanks!
Meg (mother of the brownie-loving twins)
——

I liked it because because it was in layers – not just peanut butter and fudge, but fudge/peanut butter/fudge. I like it, but I think there was a little too much peanut butter.
Eric

Mmmm.. C’est bon. Mmmm. C’est bon, tender, moist. In general, I’m not a big peanut butter fan, but here, it works. It goes really well.
Daniel

I’m the chocolate man in the family, and I think they’re good, but peanut butter doesn’t really go with fudge. I think it would go better with chocolate chips.
Luc

Just got back from Dave’s Fresh Pasta where I picked up one of your peanut butter brownies… I don’t even have the words to describe how amazing this is!!! Hoping to see them for sale soon on your site so I can send them to all of my friends and family out of state!!!!

Sharon August 26th, 2010 at 1:04 pm

I bought a brownie because my co-worker bought a peanut butter brownie, and now I’m hooked. Please keep making these and put them in your store! I cannot even express how delicious and perfect these are!
Thanks for baking!

Hi Laurelyn,

We were so excited to test your raspberry crumble and pecan caramel crumble this evening. Thank you so much for this privilege and honor! Here’s the feedback from the boys (I’m holding off as I await bathing suit season coming in a mere month or two). Meg, the twins’ mother

RASPBERRY CRUMBLE:
It’s really good – raspberry and crumble is an awesome combination. I like the design on the top of the crumble. Maybe it should be a little more sweet. Chocolate chips would be good with this. You know what I think would be good? A fudge thing, with chocolate frosting, capped with chocolate chips. The raspberry crumble is definitely a 10. ERIC

I like that it’s not too sweet. That’s Butter Girl’s signature – it’s really good. Maybe a little more raspberry. The crust ratio is too much in favor of the crust. I would add a little more, just a little more, to the raspberry. DANIEL (the twins’ father)

Very good. You can really taste the raspberry, and it’s really good. And the crumble is really good. I like the way the crumble tastes – it’s soft, but it’s also sweet. No suggestions for changes. It’s definitely a 10. LUC

PECAN CARAMEL
I like the frosting – some sort of creamy thing. Maybe a little less crumble. And, for further notice, I don’t like pecans. ERIC

It’s very good. It’s a bit like pecan pie, but better than pecan pie. I would also be tempted to suggest just a little less crumble. But it’s very good. For me, I love pecans. I’m in heaven with something like this. DANIEL

Yummmmm….. I would want to add a little less caramel and also sprinkle some powdered sugar on it. It’s maybe a little too sweet. I like the pecans – soft and juicy and gooey. LUC

Thomas August 11th, 2011 at 1:02 pm

The chocolate chip, walnut chocolate chip, and oatmeal/almond/coconut cookies are simply outrageous. Especially the walnut chocolate chip with the salt crystals is inspired. Thank you!

Tracy Campbell November 3rd, 2011 at 12:59 pm

I agree with Thomas. The chocolate chip cookies are sooo yummy.

Brenda Allen January 14th, 2012 at 8:20 pm

What a nice suprise in the mail yesterday! A box filled with your Ginger and Almond Oatmeal cookies to try. All because I had left a message at Christmas about the cookies on the Today show segmant and you were unable to fulfill the order then. The cookies were delicious-and because of your care of the “customer” I plan on ordering your cookies to celebrate my birthday in April! Thank You!

If anyone has ever worried about freezing the pecan shortbread, it is undetectable once defrosted that it was frozen. My husband savors that variety, it is his favorite. He stuck that and a chocolate chip cookie in the freezer a few weeks ago when he left on some business trips. He defrosted today and had with some green tea. When I casually mentioned how it seems after having been frozen, he totally forgot that he had frozen it. The delicious taste was totally flawless. It opens up possibilities even for shipping distances where it will be a long time in transit …. as well as midnight cravings for a “little bite”. I just thought I would share the experience.. Thanks again BGB!

Lorraine March 14th, 2012 at 1:43 pm

Just had one of your flourless peanutbutter cookies… without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had.
